What is the secret to staying young (I’m 50 in two years)??? Expansive Movements for me have helped me transcend my body – mind and spirit. When I say ‘expansive movements’ I am referring to a wide range of movements that are relatable to your martial arts. Sometimes it’s balance / coordination / creativity / new skill acquisition all incorporated into various dynamic movements. Today I took a free-standing heavy bag turned the base on its side to play with balance / rhythm / momentum and timing. I had a few spills but it was fun acquiring new skill sets that relate to my martial arts. I really enjoy and embrace the challenge and mastery that goes with any new experience. Maintaining an inquisitive, playful spirit will keep you young! Remember, my 40+ ninjas, age is NOT a death sentence…you’re not meant to stiffen and dry up… you’re meant to flow!
